Tattoo faq
All the details you need before getting inked — from bookings and aftercare to what to expect in the chair.
How old do I need to be to get a tattoo?
You must be 18 or older on the day of your tattoo, no exceptions. Please bring valid photographic ID. This is a legal requirement under the Tattooing of Minors Act 1969.

You can also call, WhatsApp, or email us. Let’s get your ideas in motion.
How long does a tattoo take?
It depends on the size, style, and placement. Small tattoos usually take 1–2 hours. Larger or more detailed pieces may need multiple sessions. Your artist will give you a time estimate during your consultation.
How painful is a tattoo?
Pain varies depending on placement, your pain threshold, and the tattoo’s complexity. Areas with more padding (like outer arms) tend to hurt less than bony or sensitive spots (like ribs or ankles). Most clients say it’s manageable. We advise against using numbing cream / sprays as these can interfere with the tattoo process.
Can I use numbing cream?
We generally advise against using over-the-counter numbing creams or sprays, as they can affect how your skin reacts during the tattoo process and may interfere with ink absorption. In some cases, they can even cause irritation or alter skin texture.
If you’re especially anxious about pain, speak with your artist during your consultation — they’ll walk you through what to expect and suggest the best approach based on placement and design.
How much will it cost?
Our minimum charge is £70. Your total cost depends on time, size, and detail. You’ll receive a quote during your free consultation.
Do I need to provide a deposit?
Yes. Deposits are required to confirm bookings and are deducted from your final cost. They enable our artists to start working on your designs. Deposits are non-refundable but transferable once with at least 72 hours’ notice.
What should I bring on the day?
Wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting ink on. You’re welcome to bring a blanket or pillow. ID is essential.
Can I get tattooed in private?
Our studio is open plan, but we can offer privacy screens if needed. Just let us know in advance.
Can you copy an existing design I like?
We don’t copy other artists’ work. But we’re happy to use your reference images as inspiration to create something custom.
When can I see the design?
Designs are prepared once your deposit is paid. You’ll usually see it a day or two before your appointment, with time for tweaks on the day.
Can I bring someone with me?
Due to our intimate studio size, we ask that you attend alone. During quiet times, we may allow one guest at the artist’s discretion.
Do you do cover-ups?
Yes! We can discuss your existing tattoo and design something to transform it. Book a free consultation to chat about options.
How long after a tattoo can I go on holiday or swimming?
We recommend waiting 4 weeks after a tattoo before sun exposure or swimming. Healing first = better results.
Are Children allowed in the studio?
Children under 10 are not permitted. Children aged 10–16 may attend for a piercing appointment if accompanied by a legal guardian.
What is your policy on tattoo touch ups?
One complimentary touch-up is included within 8–12 weeks (healing permitting). Fingers, hands, feet and similar areas may not qualify. Neglecting aftercare voids this offer.
